State of the Mind Detail Final DEAD HEARTS Release

From State of Mind Recordings:

“We will be releasing a new record from our good friends DEAD HEARTS! We are really excited about this, we have worked with Dead Hearts from day one. To do this record is a huge honor. It’s their last record EVER. Expect to see this in about two months (maybe a little sooner). Dead Hearts – A Death in the Family 7” (4 songs + digital) / CD (18 songs, limited to 500 on CD ever). This contains the last three songs they sold on CD-R at their last show, one new song (they went back and recorded vocals about a month ago), all the songs from No Love, No Hope (thanks Reflections Records) and a entire live at CBGB’s set (which we originally released as a limited 7” and is now out of print).

- I’m really liking the idea of selling this as a 7″ with a ton of bonus digital content, especially the inclusion of the Reflection Records MCD… am looking forward to getting my hands on a copy.

FOR TODAY Devastate With “Devastator” Devastatingly…

Facedown Records metalcore band FOR TODAY have posted the brand new song “Devastator” to their MySpace page. The tooth-shaking tune is from their upcoming full-length Breaker, which is set for an August 31st release.

- Not to be critical… well, OK, being critical, the band’s logo on its MySpace page screams out TOO MUCH FONT!! Aaaaaaahhhh…

Spotlight On: MILLENIAL REIGN

Have you ever read a description of some new piece of music and then watched your arm and hand immediately move your mouse in an involuntary manner to a label’s webstore? If not try, it with these words from A389 Records: “Members of FUCKED UP and NO WARNING playing four tracks of awesome INTEGRITY worship. Missing no details, they remembered to include everything from the the epic power ballads to the subtle whisper tracks. Recorded a few years ago and then shelved, we’re thrilled this release will finally see the light of day.”

SCARLET GREY Streaming “Fancy Blood”

From the inbox:

Los Angeles pop-rock group SCARLET GREY are streaming their new album Fancy Blood in its entirety at PureVolume.com, and also giving away a free down of their song “The Sky And I,” which features guest vocals from Davey Havok of AFI.

- I’ve always wondered why AFI is often cited as influence by bands, but so rarely shows up in their actual sounds. SCARLET GREY actually makes do on their talk, and these guys are pretty good without aping AFI’s style too hard.

IN THE MIDST OF LIONS Debut New Song

In the Midst of Lions has also posted a song from their upcoming album. You can hear “The Heart of Man” and have a look at their fresh Myspace profile here.

The band will be joining Facedown family members FOR TODAY and A PLEA FOR PURGING on this summer’s Scream the Prayer Tour starting July 2nd.

MAKER – “I-91″ EP

Massachusetts’ MAKER are fast pop-punk/hardcore band employing hearty LIFETIME and FAIRWEATHER influences, not unlike their MA counterparts TRANSIT. If there’s got to be a new cycle of similar style bands coming out of the woodwork, I’m perfectly glad with it being this kind of music instead of more braindead metalcore.  MAKER’s energy level is high [...]

Spotlight On: HIVEMIND

Florida’s HIVEMIND have released a brand new 7″ on Dead Truth Recordings (co-owned by former REMEMBERING NEVER frontman, Mean Pete), titled Foreboding Winds. The four song release slams with mesmerizingly heavy guitars and rocket-blasting percussion. Several songs from the release can be streamed on their MySpace page.

- Despite the raw intensity and anger in the band’s music, it’s good to see that these guys have a lighter side to them with their merch…
